Item Environmental Determinants of Choice of Sustainability Strategies Adopted by Group Ranches in Samburu County, Kenya(2017) Kithumbu, Eustace N.; Huho, Julius M.; Omondi, Humphrey R.The group ranch system is one of the best land ownership and livestock production strategies Page | 153 in the dry lands of the world where the potential for rain-fed agriculture is limited. This has resulted in numerous studies on the establishment of group ranches, their dissolution and coping strategies but with less focus on the sustainability of the group ranches. It is against this background that this study investigated environmental characteristics influencing choice of sustainability strategies adopted by group ranches in Samburu County, Kenya. The investigation adopted a descriptive survey research design employing use of Questionnaires, Key Informant Interviews, Focus Group Discussions and observation as primary data collection methods. The study used content validity and Cronbach’s alpha methods to measure validity and reliability of the research instruments, respectively. The target population for the study was the 16,611 registered members in 38 group ranches spread out in the County. The study sampled twelve group ranches with approximately 5,643 members from which 374 respondents were systematically sampled. Purposive sampling was used to select Key Informants and the participants in the Focus Group Discussions. The study employed Multi-linear Regression to analyse environmental characteristics determining choice of sustainability strategies. The Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test the hypothesis and p-value of 0.00 was obtained, indicating that environmental characteristics significantly determined choice of sustainability strategies adopted by group ranches in the County. Overall, rainfall patterns were the predominating environmental characteristic with a regression coefficient of 0.317 while diseases had the least influence on choice of sustainability strategies adopted by group ranches in Samburu County, with a regression coefficient of 0.029. The study recommended integration of environmental characteristics in formulating policies for sustainability of group ranches.Item Environmental Determinant of Choice of Sustainability Strategies Adopted by Group Ranches in Samburu County, Kenya(International Journal of Current Business and Social Sciences, 2017) Omondi, Humphrey R.; Huho, Julius M.Item Organizational Determinants of Choice of Sustainability Strategies Adopted by Group Ranches in Samburu County, Kenya(International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science, 2018) Kithumbu, Eustace Njagi; Huho, Julius M.; Omondi, Humphrey R.Item Performance of Incubator Centres in Kenya: The Pivotal Role of Entrepreneurial Management(International Journal of Research in Business and Social Science, 2018) Kinya, Miriti Jane; Wanjau, Kenneth Lawrence; Omondi, Humphrey R.Globally, countries are strategically positioning themselves for market leadership due to dynamic business environment. Entrepreneurial spirit is seen as the strategy that will deliver this agenda. This spirit, is believed to be behind the innovative business that revolutionizes the business world. In a dynamic and complex environment, the success of any business is pegged on the entrepreneurial operations of a firm. Entrepreneurial-oriented firms have been proven to be ahead of competition because they are always introduced new products and services and in turn improve their financial results. Scholars believe that learning and development can occur amongst people who actively engage in a common enterprise. This makes learning empowering and productive and thus sustains entrepreneurial orientation. This in turn produces communities of entrepreneurial practice. The role of the entrepreneurial manager is to nurture communities of growth-oriented firms where entrepreneurial learning takes place. The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between entrepreneurial management and performance of incubator centres in Kenya. The study used a correlation design because it focused on a causal-effect relationship. The study population was 41 incubator managers in Kenya. After missing data analysis two respondents were expunged leaving 39 respondents. Secondary data was obtained from published sources such as company reports, manuals and research done by other scholars. Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach was used to analyze the measurement model and test the hypothesized relationship in this study. Simple linear regression model was used to measure the strength of the relationship between entrepreneurial management and performance incubator centre in Kenya. The joint effect model results indicated that entrepreneurial management had a significant relationship with performance of incubator centre.Item Users’ Perceptions on the Effectiveness of Enterprise Resource Planning System in Enhancing the Performance of Accounting Information Systems of Public Universities in Kenya(Journal of Business Studies Quarterly, 2015) Kaino, Bethsy Jepkeitany; Omondi, Humphrey R.; Waweru, Kennedy MunyuaThe study employed a survey research design and a multinomial ordinal logistic regression analysis to establish users’ perception on the effectiveness of the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in enhancing the performance of the accounting information system (AIS) through reliability, accuracy and timeliness of information generated. The target population comprised of 56 employees drawn from the selected seven public universities which had implemented ERP systems for at least three years. Census survey was used to collect the data from heads of eight department targeted by the study. A Likert-type self-administered, structured questionnaire was used to collect data from the target respondents. The study findings revealed that ERP implementation generated positive and significant effects on the performance of the AIS through enhanced accuracy and timeliness of information generated at 5 percent significance level. While the ERP system was found to have a positive effect on reliability of information generated the effect was not found to be statistically significant. The study thus concludes that implementation of an ERP system is an opportunity for public universities to implement improved controls and security of data which enhances accuracy and timeliness of information hence performance of accounting information. Future studies may be conducted on the level of ERP adoption in different departments in public universities since this has a bearing on the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of Accounting Information generated by the ERP.Item Effects of Outsourcing Cleaning Functions on Service Quality in Public Universities in Kenya: A Comparative Study of Outsourced and in-House Cleaning Services(SAS Publishers, 2015) Omondi, Humphrey R.; Ng’ang’a, Stephen I.; Muraguri, Eunice Kagure
